Living, Loving and Sharing Life …

Welcome to my ‘Life with Tess’ blog!

I decided at the beginning of 2012 to take up the WordPress challenge to blog for 366 days of 2012. I had never blogged before.

Well, that Challenge is over now. Done and Dusted! I was amazed to achieve writing every day: 366 days despite travelling overseas and doing a 14 day cruise!

My family helped me celebrate on New Year’s Eve 2012 when I was given a special ‘Bloggers Award’ made up by my son. What a thrill it was having them celebrate this milestone with me.

In 2013 I continued writing on blog but just not every day. It still feels so decadent after the daily blogging experience. However, I have continued to share all of the ups and downs concerning marriage, children, grandchildren and life’s happenings with humour and some measure of wisdom as I did before. I have other challenges to achieve now as 2014 continues onwards. I completed  a 9 Week Challenge at my local gym which was quite a feat for someone as unfit as me! I lost 4 kg and continue to attend the gym regularly.

I enjoy life and wish to keep learning until the day I die. Life is never easy and I think that living, loving and sharing your life with others is good for your well-being so this is what I have decided  to do on my blog. And I just love to write.

INFORMATION ON MY BACKGROUND YOU MIGHT WANT TO KNOW:

I have had an interesting and full life but am now in my late sixties having retired from full-time work in 2009 after a demanding but enjoyable career in the Federal Government.

I love writing, travelling and being in nature. I belong to a monthly Book Club at the local library and really enjoy the feisty interactions we have and I have also formed some good friendships there. I am also part of a weekly group where we study Shakespeare from an expert on the subject, who just happens to be 85 years old.

I live with my husband Geoffrey in Brisbane, in the beautiful Sunshine State of Queensland, Australia. Geoff and I share many of the same interests – especially caravanning, cruising, music and our garden. There is never a dull moment in our house as Geoff is such a colourful character.

We have two wonderful children – grown up, married and gone. Maria is now 42 and bringing up our two gorgeous granddaughters Alice (12) and Violet 7) almost on her own; also Daniel (37) married to Belinda, parents to delightful 4-year-old Isaac and their baby Madeleine (1-year-old). We are a close-knit family and enjoy the cut and thrust of activities shared and love spending time away together now and then, at a resort. It’s full-on but enjoyable.

What a good life it is! I studied at university in my forties and I cannot imagine not having a challenge in my life so I know there will be new challenges ahead of me in 2014.

Now that 2013 is over, I invite you to continue travelling with me on this journey. 2013 was a hard year in which I lost my sister … but I found that time does heal. I also finished my Diploma of Publishing in 2013 and edited my first book! However, I will continue to write about all manner of things that interest me and as I have some work as an online editor, life will never be boring or dull.

Please … put down whatever you are doing and come along with me on the journey in 2014, as I share … Life with Tess.

Lovely poem Tess! We are writing and caring about similar things, methinks! I am writing a children’s story about called Miss Merry’s Rainbow Garden (or something along those lines) where I talk about some of those trees you love too. Poinciana is a favourite of mine! Keep an eye out for my stories if you are interested as they have tree themes based on Queensland flora. http://cayliejeffery.blogspot.com.au
    All the best

I admire you for writing every single day! That is amazing Tess. What is your secret? How did you do it?

Thanks so much. You know it’s easier to write every day than to write intermittently! It’s hard to believe isn’t it? The only exception is when you are travelling that it is difficult. We took a cruise around Australia and I wrote everyday there.

It is all about planning. I had to plan when I would be home or having a busy day etc. The thing is when you write every day, you know you have to, so you write whatever pops into your head. It was the most wonderful practice in being able to write. I also put my life on hold while I blogged every afternoon for two hours! I did have the luxury of being retired however … made a huge difference. I loved it! It’s all about planning … planning … planning. It does make me feel wonderful though!

    Hello Tess!
You been an inspiration to me since I first started my blog here on Word Press. I greatly enjoy your writing and it has been wonderful watching how you’ve grown your blog.

I dropped by to let you know I have nominated you for the Most Influential Blogger Award. The details are show at the link below. Even if you have been previously nominated, I’ve still nominated you as a show of appreciation.

    Much Respect,
    Cataline

      Hi Cataline

How lovely to get your nomination for this Award! I really appreciate it. As I’m on my third year of blogging I had to do something … either stop writing or GROW!!! I chose to grow the blog.

I was so pleased to see that you were back writing and doing the Blogging 101 class. I did the 102 class and was surprised to see that I was already doing most of the things suggested.

I have been nominated for a few awards last year but when I updated my blog I let them go. It was time to move on so now it is lovely to have a nomination.

However, I am not good at nominating other bloggers … last time a couple got really upset and virtually told me to desist! Oh dear it was awful but I’ll do my best.
Thank you once again. Love Tess

I do understand about the nominating other bloggers, as I have ran into this problem myself.

Thank you for your support. It does mean a lot! I did not like having to take a year off, but I am happy that I’m feeling well enough to write here again. I hope to continue and to grow.

        Respect and love to you!
        Cataline

Thanks Mary, I am still travelling and internet is ‘iffy’ or not at all here in Central Australia, so I’ll look at it when I get home in 12 days time. Thanks so much for the link. Tess
