Hello all

I am not sure how I have found the time to write today but some inner being is pushing me ever onwards and will not be silenced! I came to my blog this morning to discover that I had more hits on Life with Tess yesterday than I’ve ever had before. Way way more … are one of you beautiful people ‘out there’ talking about me?

Well, whatever it was, I am most grateful for the attention. I come and blog every few days and sometimes I am not even sure if anyone is listening (or should I say ‘reading’?) Whatever it is, is sure feels great … thank you!

I have had a very busy and interesting weekend minding our granddaughters and trying to do some editing work on a fitness/recipe book that came my way last week. A lot of you would know that I have almost finished my Diploma of Publishing and Editing and I’m feeling rather excited about the whole thing.

The Donkey in the Well

The Donkey in the Well

Anyway dear friends, today I just had to share this story about The Donkey with you all. It is about a donkey who somehow manages to get out of a well when it looks as if he is doomed to die down there. Do you ever get the feeling sometimes that this kind of thing is happening to YOU? Not actually ‘dying’ though, just being destroyed by things out of your control?

We have all felt that way at times haven’t we? Well, this story is very uplifting and it gives encouragement for those times when we are in a bind. The lesson it teaches is that you never ever know what will happen to help you when you are in trouble and you least expect it. Take note of the Moral at the end of the story. Enjoy!

One day a farmer’s donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn’t worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone’s amazement he quieted down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer’s neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a stepping stone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred – Forgive

2. Free your mind from worries – most of it never happens

3. Live simply and appreciate what you have

4. Give more

5. Expect less from people but more from yourself

Friends, you have two choices …  smile and close this page, or pass this along to someone else to encourage them.
